Updated: Jul 9, 2021
Blue Mountains City Council has received an additional $2.5M from the NSW Government to remediate and open the Glenbrook Tunnel for active transport and public recreation. Council now have $4M of public grant monies for the project. This latest funding builds on the BMCSF's River to Mountains Cycling Network Concept Plan, which has been well received by the community. The Concept Plan made clear that the Glenbrook Tunnel is only part of the River to Mountains Cycling Network Plan which includes a proposed cycleway between the River Walk and Glenbrook cafes and shops via Leonay Oval Reserve and rail heritage interpretative signage. When fully realised, the plan will make a significant contribution in building resilience in the local economy.
