Cycling curiosity: Pearson's 19th Century Guide to Cycle touring in NSW
You might be familiar with a former Thatcher Government Minister in a lemon or salmon jacket on SBS with a copy Bradshaws' Railway Guide in hand touring on modern railways. Well, here is our very own Victorian era Cyclists' Touring Guide of New South Wales' (thankfully without Michael Portillo). I know some in our network will really enjoy this gem. As well as routes it has some handy late Victorian era choices of attire and health tips, such as "...smoke as little as possible while riding, as tabbaco depresses the heart's action". This was a serious document in its day and fascinating to read now. Full pdf downloadable below.
