Vulnerable road users, motorists and professional drivers all require a safe and Austroads compliant
The BMCSF congratulates the NSW Government on the upgrades to the GWH in the mid to upper Blue Mountains. The section at Faulconbridge west of Bellevue Street, however, was duplicated over 30 years ago and has non-compliant narrow and non-existent road shoulders which, unlike the more recent upgrades, do not meet Austroads standards.
Vulnerable road users, motorists and professional drivers all require a safe and Austroads compliant road environment to avoid collisions and to stay within the law. We know RMS believe action on the Faulconbridge shoulders is not necessary, but we are hopeful the Minister for Roads will take a different view about whether this section poses a risk to safety and we look forward next week to hearing what actions the Government will be take to make it safe for vulnerable road users and ensure that other road users can pass safely and stay within the law.
